Sometimes Strength Looks Like Rest
Sometimes the strongest thing you can do is admit that you need to stop.
This Saturday, October 10th, What’s Up Rochester? will be airing a rerun while Terri and I take a much-needed mental health day.
Life has been overwhelming lately. We both love this show, we love our guests, and we love the community that has embraced What’s Up Rochester? But we’ve also learned that you can’t keep pouring from a cup that is completely empty.
Sometimes you need to give yourself permission to say, “Today, I need to rest.”
That isn’t quitting. It isn’t letting anyone down. And it certainly isn’t weakness.
Knowing when you’ve reached your limit is a sign of strength. Taking care of yourself before you completely burn out is one of the most responsible things you can do — for yourself and for the people who depend on you.
So this weekend, Terri and I are practicing what we would tell anyone else to do. We’re stopping. We’re resting. We’re taking care of ourselves. And we’re reminding ourselves that we don’t have to feel guilty about it.
We hope that if you’re reading this and life feels a little too heavy right now, you’ll give yourself that same permission. You don’t always have to push through. Sometimes resting is moving forward.
Please enjoy one of our past shows this Saturday from 11 AM–1 PM on Rochester Free Radio 106.3 FM, and know that we’ll be back LIVE October 17th, rested, recharged and ready to bring you another great show.
Thank you for giving us the same grace and understanding that you have shown us from the very beginning.
Take care of yourselves. Life can wait for a minute. You matter too.
