Heather Campo
Odyssey of the Mind

Heather was first introduced to Odyssey of the Mind when her youngest was in third grade. He came home with a flyer for an information session and told Heather he wanted to do it. So they signed him up! Soon after his team started meeting, they were in need of a new coach. Even though she had no idea what she was doing, Heather volunteered. She coached his team all ten years he participated, and also coached her other son's team for several years. She joined the board of the Greater Rochester Regional Odyssey of the Mind Association, the all-volunteer group that runs the regional competition, and for the past couple years has served as the board's co-director, along with Jodi Antin. Heather wants to  note her youngest graduated in 2020, but she has remained with the program because she can see the power of it for kids.

Outside of Odyssey of the Mind, Heather works in communications for a local school district. And her son that came home with a flyer all those years ago has recently opened an escape room and Heather is his business partner. They operate LegaSea Escape Rooms in East Rochester, and many of the skills he developed through his experience with Odyssey of the Mind are now being put to use in his business! Creativity, leadership, communication, designing and building things - all great skills that are still serving him well.
